Make-It Monday: Strawberried Alive Grilled Cheese

Sweet, tart, spicy, and gooey—a grilled cheese that doesn’t play by the rules.
Serves: 1–2 | Prep time: 10 min | Cook time: 8 min

Why This Works:

Strawberried Alive’s blend of strawberry, balsamic, and Fresno chili brings tang, sweetness, and a creeping heat. Add that to melty cheese and buttery toast, and it’s a gourmet twist on a childhood classic.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of good sourdough or sandwich bread
  • 1/2 cup sliced strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 2–3 teaspoons Strawberried Alive hot sauce
  • 4 slices sharp white cheddar or gouda
  • 2 teaspoons butter or mayo for the bread

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix strawberries, balsamic vinegar, sugar, and Strawberried Alive. Let sit 5 minutes to macerate.
  2. Spread butter or mayo on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Assemble the sandwich with cheese and a spoonful of the strawberry mix (drain excess liquid if needed) between two slices of bread, butter side out.
  4. Grill each side 3–4 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted. Repeat for the second sandwich.

Tips for Success:

  • This works beautifully with brie, fontina, or any creamy cheese.
  • Try adding arugula for a peppery bite or serve with a simple green salad for contrast.
